The 78th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2027) in Poznań: Official Agreement Signed
In the capital of France, at the annual Spring Meetings of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the agreement was officially concluded for the organization of the 78th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which will take place in 2027 in Poznań, Poland. In the presence of more than 300 IAF delegates from around the world, the agreement was signed by Clay Mowry, President of the International Astronautical Federation, and Łukasz Wilczyński, the President of the European Space Foundation.

This prestigious event returns to Poland after over 60 years, representing a tremendous success for the Polish space sector and an opportunity to promote the country internationally. IAC stands as the most important event of the global space sector, annually attracting thousands of experts, scientists, business leaders, and representatives from all space agencies. The Congress in Poznań will provide an excellent platform to showcase the achievements of Poland and Central-Eastern European countries in space technologies, scientific research, and innovation.
"The signing of the agreement is the culmination of almost two years of efforts by many people and entities to organize the IAC in Poland. It also confirms our readiness to take up this unique challenge," said Łukasz Wilczyński, President of the European Space Foundation and Executive Director of the IAC 2027 Organizing Committee.
The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is the organizer of the Congress. On the Polish side, the project is being hosted through joint cooperation between the Ministry of Development and Technology, the European Space Foundation (Host Organization), the Polish Space Agency, the City of Poznań, the MTP Group and Poznań Congress Center, Poznań Convention Bureau, and The Way. The initiative also receives support from Polish Airlines LOT.
The Congress will be guided by the theme "One Space. Shared Future." The first part of this theme—"One Space"—reminds us that space represents a common domain for all humanity, transcending divisions. The International Astronautical Congress serves as a forum fostering cooperation and catalyzing dialogue, which holds particular significance for the current global geopolitical context, as Wilczyński further explains.
