Since yesterday, representatives of local governments, central administration, and business leaders have been intensively negotiating and seeking solutions to the most pressing financial problems of Polish cities.
On April 15–16, 2026, representatives of local governments, administration, and business finalized financial strategies for the coming years in Sopot. The Local Trends project, organized by Grupa MTP, has become a platform for dialogue on the most important challenges facing local governments, focusing on demography, energy transition, and directions for local development.

Thanks to the participation of experts from universities and research institutes, practical knowledge necessary for effective local policy management was provided. The program was developed based on a survey identifying key issues over a three-year perspective, and its substantive quality was overseen by the Program Council supported by partners such as the Union of Polish Metropolises, the Association of Polish Cities, and the Association of Polish Counties. Discussions in Sopot focused on managing city finances and identifying mechanisms for financing investments, which now form the foundation for the autumn European Local Government Forum.

The next edition of the event is scheduled for October 1–2, 2026, in Poznań under the auspices of the City of Poznań and the Marshal Offices of the Pomorskie and Wielkopolskie Voivodeships. The autumn debates in Poznań will address strategic planning and best practices in managing the socio-economic ecosystem, enriching the program with the Urban Development Forum and the Senior Policy Forum.
