What Will We Eat in the Future? EFFoST 2026 Begins on 4 November in Poznań
Will artificial intelligence change the way food is produced? What kinds of food will be on our plates in the next decade or two? And how can we produce food without placing excessive pressure on the environment? These are questions that affect us all, and experts from around the world will seek answers during the 40th International EFFoST Conference 2026. The event will take place from 4 to 6 November 2026 at Poznań Congress Center.
What's Next on Our Plates?
Behind the products we buy and consume every day are complex systems of production, processing and distribution. Today, these systems face growing challenges. How can they be addressed? This question will be at the heart of this year's conference, held under the theme “Building Sustainable Food Systems: Today's Challenges for a Better Tomorrow.”
Participants will explore innovations that could transform the food industry. The programme will cover alternative food sources, new food processing and packaging methods, as well as the use of robotics, digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
Another important topic will be personalised nutrition, which involves tailoring diets to the individual needs of consumers. Experts will also discuss advanced methods for testing food safety and authenticity, as well as tracing the origins of food products.

Poznań to Welcome the International Food Science Community
The 40th anniversary edition of the EFFoST conference will bring together scientists, researchers, food industry representatives, experts, students and those involved in shaping food policy.
The conference will provide an opportunity to discover the latest research findings and discuss their practical applications. Bringing together representatives from academia and industry will encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as the search for solutions that could shape the future of food production.
The conference is organised by Poznań University of Life Sciences, with scientific support from Polish partners. The event is part of the annual conference series organised by the European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST).

Three Days of Discussions on the Future of Food

EFFoST 2026 offers an opportunity to explore the latest research and innovative solutions that could help address these challenges. Participants from around the world will share their experiences, discover new opportunities for collaboration and discuss how scientific advances can be translated into practical applications in the food industry.
